Nikoo's Idea

Out of boredom, I asked my LiveJournal friends to write ideas in a comment and I would write them a story about it. Most of them just made sarcastic, non-idea comments, but I decided to turn them all into stories. The first one turned into a western so i figured I'd post it here too. Enjoy.

Tick.

Tick.

Tick.

He checks the sky. The sun is not quite at its highest. Close though. Probably 11:30... 11:45 maybe. He rolls another cigarette and lights it. A gust of wind stirs up some dust and puts his match out for him, which gets thrown to the ground anyway.

Tick.

Tick.

He checks the sun again. Close. He leans into the saloon whose porch he's been standing on and glances at the clock. 11:57. One last drag on the cigarette and he drops it, mashing it out with his boot. Without glancing up, he hears his name.

"FOSTER!"

Foster does not turn around.

BANG.

A bullet whizzes by his cheek. He still does not look up.

"FOSTER!"

Tick.

Only now does Foster begin to turn around. He does so slowly but without hesitation. Once turned, he slowly raises his head. "Nikoo. I was beginning to think maybe you wouldn't show up." Foster steps down from the porch and walks to the middle of the road, facing Nikoo.

"I said I'd kill you at noon. I figure there's no reason for you to die early." Foster chuckles to himself at that.

Tick.

"Well, I don't want to be late any more than I'd like to be early." As he says this, his hand slowly rises toward his revolver. Nikoo's does the same.

Foster spits without taking his eyes from Nikoo. Nikoo squints as more dust is stirred.
They both stare for what seems like an eternity.

Tick.

BAANG.

Two shots sound as one.

BANG.

Nikoo drops her gun as Foster fires a wild shot. His hands are shaking.

Two figures collapse in the street.
